A Gift for You This Christmas

Today in the town of David a Savior
has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:11

It has been a long and tiresome journey. You are cold and hungry. Your heavily pregnant wife is about to give birth. Desperate for shelter, you knock on any door you see. But every house and inn you come to, turns you away.

Casually, one hotelier says: ?Well, we have a barn at the back which you can use, if you like.? In desperation you gratefully accept the offering.

Yes, it?s Christmas when many people, like Mary and Joseph, will find no welcome anywhere. For others, the thought of spending time with their family or relatives is as bad as bedding down in the barn with all those animals!

But Christmas is also a time of new beginnings?the birth of a Saviour, who brings the presents of redemption and release from the past. In the winter darkness, a light shines, offering the prospect of a wonderful new dimension to your life. It is the realisation that with Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we can find rest, joy and abundance in every sense of the word.

This Christmas, why not share that message? Why not be the person who does not slam shut the door, but welcomes those who come to you. Reach out to others to give shelter. It may literally be a roof; it simply may be a kind word or gesture. But reach out and touch the lives of those you meet. It is then that you will find Jesus; it is then that you will enter Christmas.

For God so loved the world He gave us His only Son?a gift for you this Christmas.

From all of us here at Shaneen Clarke Ministries and everyone from A Womans Call, we send our love to you. May you have a Blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

The Miracle of Marriage

...you have saved the best till now.
Luke 2:10

In August 2008, I was invited to address the married couple and congregation at a Wedding in Oxford, England. In spite of being very busy, I went and delivered a message from my heart. I share that message with you below and hope it speaks to you as it spoke to those assembled that fine summer day.

The first miracle Jesus ever performed was at a wedding. The wine ran out, and Jesus turned the six jars of water into wine?saving the best till last.

Today we know that the marriage of a man and a woman is one of life?s great miracles. It is the union of two beings as one, saving the best till last, and Jesus is there changing the old for the new.

The marriage vows are spoken to each other, and lifelong commitments are made in the space of minutes. The couple promises to care for each other under any circumstance and at any time throughout the rest of the entire lives. "I?ll try? and "I may? are replaced with "I will.? It is perhaps the shortest contract ever written, but it will impact generations.

The conditions are good, the guests are expectant, and the cost is met. The couple is about to set off on the most exciting journey ever taken. The "being together? through thick and thin. It is the "coming together? to produce children and raise family in abundance or lack. Future conditions are unknown, praecipes will be traversed and mountains will be climbed?a labyrinth of issues within a maze of life?s challenges. "I will? becomes "I must? and as age claims its due portion. The prospects of illness or even early death enter to challenge even the strongest of partnerships.

Yet, throughout, the presence of Jesus?the ever staying guest?will be there just as he was at Cana. He will encourage, perform, be the difference, and be our ever present help in time of need.

Then, and as the sunset of our lives loom, He stays to reassure that the third strand of the rope makes the union tighter, safer, stronger and secure, a marriage made in Heaven by Jesus the very creator, Our Lord, Mighty Saviour.

Come to the Wedding Feast. Come today and invite Jesus in, the greatest guest on your greatest occasion. Let Him be your Master, let Him take control and guide your paths as we walk hand in hand. Say today "I will? to Jesus and let the first miracle be yours. Let your transformation be an everlasting wedding gift today in Jesus? name we pray.

Driving Home for Christmas

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son...
John 3:16

Immortalised by Chris Rea, this wonderful song prompts me to write to you all today. As we take to the Highway this holiday season, as we drive head on to the holiday, we are looking to see our family and loved ones and exchange gifts, spend time, and relish the moments together.

Yet, for many on the eve of the greatest credit crunch in nearly 100 years, many are maxed out on their credit cards, about to lose their jobs and run off the edge of the cliff called Debt. Is this something to celebrate, or should we turn round the car, go the other way, and run? But where will we run?

Let me tell you, we can today run right now to the Hill of Priority, to the Mountains of Order, and ask the very Creator of all to enter into your life and surrender the wheel to Him. Allow me to introduce the car manufacturer, the chauffeur of your life. His name is Jesus. Take a passenger seat and wipe the past mistakes away, wipe the debt away, and get in credit with the One and only Christmas present you will ever need. For God so loved the world that He gave to you His only begotten Son.

Now sit back, play the song and know that you are finally Driving Home with Jesus, truly driving home for Christmas. Celebrate with Him for the rest of your life His Birth, your salvation. You will never make a journey like it again.
