Bank on Your Possession

Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.
(John 16:33)

"We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy
and to be greedy when others are fearful.?
Warren Buffet

My husband stepped out of one of the tower buildings on London Wall recently and stopped to buy a copy of the London Evening Standard. The 80-year-old woman at the newspaper stand greeted him with a nearly toothless smile and a billow of cigarette smoke. The newspaper headline announced "Record Crash,? and my husband enquired what the woman thought.

"Seen it all before, love,? she replied. "What goes up comes down, what is down can only go up.?.

Who needs the experts when there is such wisdom on the street? Who needs advice when it is all in the Word?

The trouble with the bubble was the debt trap, otherwise known as:
Greed

I have been asked so many questions lately on the financial upheaval.

  • Should I sell my house?
  • Should I rent my house?
  • Where is the safest place to put my money?
  • Is gold a better option?
  • I am in so much debt. What should I do?
  • The churches just want money!
  • Is this the global government coming into play?

The world?s system wants you to colour in between the lines. God?s kingdom wants you to colour outside of the lines. Right now, God wants you to rip loose and get out of this world system and reposition yourself.

Since banks have gone belly up, what do you hold onto? As a believer, you can cling to what Jesus has already done for you. John 16.33 says, "Be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.? We have to remind ourselves in this hour that we have an inheritance in Christ that cannot go belly up. The Word of God will stand firm while this shaking is taking place.

This was the case in the last depression of USA. Many great men and women were repositioned to the forefront of their destinies during the 1930?s. John D. Rockefeller said, "Highs and lows come and go, but prosperity will come back." And it did.

But true prosperity is accepting what Jesus did for you on the cross. The return is a lot higher than any bank can give you today.

I am excited because the Spirit of God is moving two and fro, seeking who has a pure heart. The devil will tell you that you can?t get out of this mess. But you can!

Your Thought Life is Key
to Overcoming This Season

"As a man thinks, so he is.?
Proverbs 23:7

Christians have the most amazing weapons of warfare to demolish what I call "destiny attackers" (those who want to prevent you from reaching your goal in life).

Proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinks, so he is.? Right believing is right living. It does not matter how dark this hour is. In the beginning, there was darkness and the world was void. God created destiny out of darkness, and He will do it for you now. You are about to experience a breakthrough!

My friend, 2008 is a preparation for 2009. You are going to be able to carry God?s glory into your work place, family, business, and ministry like never before. Oh, yes, God is going to surprise His people in this hour. A great awaking is sweeping planet Earth. There are going to be totally new ways of doing, seeing, and saying things. This financial collapse is for you to get up and stand and walk into your God-given destiny.

It?s time to shake off what is holding you back. Come on! Come with me now on the heights of the earth, as described in Dueteronomy 32:12-13, and see the oil out of a flinty rock and honey out of the rock. It literally means doing the impossible.

God?s ultimate desire is to bless His children. Yes, you are about to witness God?s provision in the desert of your lives. Job 36:11 says, "If you obey and serve Him, you will spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasure.?

Henry Ford?s factory was burnt down, and all he had left were the scraps of the factory. He used the scraps to create a new idea and made a fortune. You may feel all you have is scraps right now, but your ability to take the scraps of your life will enable you to come out with a witty idea. Oh yes, that?s right, you can become a new person through this difficult time.

Six R's That Will Change
Recession Into Possession

"Do not fear for I am with you."
Isaiah 41:10

Reprocess your inheritance. You are a joint heir with Jesus Christ. Accept the value that God has placed on you. When you do this, you will then cooperate with God to develop the best possible for you in this world. This will eliminate fear of failure or defeat, because nothing can stop you when you are working together with God (Isaiah 41:10, Deuteronomy 31:6). You will have courage because you have now discovered that with God at work in you, you are indomitable (Joshua 1:9, 1 John 4:4). You now can stand tall, square your shoulders, look into the future with confidence, walk steady, and rise to the level of importance for which God created you (Psalm 46:1-3).

Recover as David did. David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken from him (1 Samuel 30:19). You will recover what you lost. It?s not me saying this. It?s in the Word, so take that promise and recover.

Rejoice. How can we rejoice when everything around you is falling apart? Jesus said, "Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world? (John 16:33). You are an over comer because Christ is in you. There is no defeat in the Bible for those who love God. This is a choice to make. Think and talk as an over comer.

Reflect on how you have been doing things. Let every experience teach you. Yesterday is in the tomb. Tomorrow is in the womb. Your life is today. (Proverbs 22:29, Proverbs 1:31) During this time of reflection, you will come to understand deep truths and secrets about yourself (Daniel 2:22). The best of who you are also will come out during reflection. Go for it! Look at all that God has already done in your life.

Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which He swore to your forefather, as it is today. God is the one who who gives you power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Recognise your possession in Christ will cause the seeds of greatness to germinate in you (Galatians 3:29, 1 Peter 1:23). Keep yourself watered by thinking on the person you are in Christ, reaffirming your value until your attitude and conduct are transformed.

10 Everyday Tips for Financial Stability
from Warren Buffet

Source: Warren Buffet's Property Investments Newsletter
September 2008
  1. Reinvest your profits - When you first start making some money, don?t spend it all right away. Rather, use it to grow your business and increase your profits.
  2. Be willing to be different - This one confused me somewhat. The article claims that instead of following the herd, Buffet focused on undervalued investments and beat the market year after year, which makes a lot of sense. It then states,"To Buffet, the average is just that - what everybody else is doing." This confuses me a bit because Buffet is a big proponent of low-cost index fund investing. So much so that he bet approximately $320,000 that the S&P 500 Index Fund will out perform a collection of sophisticated hedge funds. The argument against index funds is that they are "just average." Anyway, the point is, don?t just do what everyone else is already doing in the same way that everyone else is already doing it.
  3. Never suck your thumb - Gather your information and make a decision. Calling any extra time wasted before making a decision "thumb sucking," the article states that when people offer Buffet a business or investment, he makes a decision on the spot. (I need to work on this thumb sucking thing with my daughter, actually?"see honey, Warren Buffet says you shouldn?t suck your thumb either and he?s the Oracle of Omaha?")
  4. Spell out the deal before you start - Always agree on the specifics of any deal before starting on it. Buffet notes that your bargaining position is greatest before beginning work on a job. So, even with friends and relatives, make sure everyone understands and agrees to the details of the deal in advance.
  5. Watch small expenses - I think this is what spurs Buffet to recommend low cost index funds. If you read that article above, you?ll see the crazy fees that are levied by those hedge funds. This suggestion, of course, extends far beyond just investing advice. Limiting your expenses in all areas of your life will extend the reach of your paycheck as well.
  6. Limit what you borrow - Woohoo, now you?re talking! The article claims that Buffet has never borrowed a significant amount of money. His advice is to become debt-free and then save some money to start investing. This is quite a bit different from all the gurus claiming that rich people get rich by using other people?s money.
  7. Be persistent - Buffet claims that someone possessing persistence (and ingenuity) can win against a bigger and/or more established competitor.
  8. Know when to quit - Sometimes, it is best to just cut your losses and walk away instead of throwing good money after bad. When you are down, resist the inclination to win it all back with the next bet.
  9. Assess the risks -The article describes a situation where Buffet advised his son to imagine the worst-case and best-case scenarios for a certain course of action. This exercise will help you understand the risks and rewards for whatever decision you are making.
  10. Know what success really means - The article claims that Buffet does not measure his success by dollars. Here?s an interesting quote from Buffet:
"I know people who have a lot of money, and they get testimonial dinners and hospital wings named after them. But the truth is that nobody in the world loves them. When you get to my age, you?ll measure your success in life by how many of the people you want to have love you actually do love you. That?s the ultimate test of how you?ve lived your life."
