Reach back to your school days and recall that a noun is the name of a person, place, or thing. A verb shows action. The word "faith? is a thing, making it a noun. The word "believe? is something you do, making it a verb. For a Christian, faith is the cause of action. The action is to believe that God will fulfill His promises in your life.
You might be asking at this point, "Shaneen, what does that have to do with tough financial times?? The answer is, well, everything. Especially now that the R word - recession - is on so many lips.
The financial avalanche of 2007 has rolled down into every home in the world and has taken from many their homes, careers and familiar lifestyles - washed away, never to return. For all too many, the roads of excess have led to the Palaces of Wisdom described in Proverbs, and many regret the journeys taken.
To debt-proof and recession proof yourself, simply remember this important concept: Recession is taking possession.
I?m talking about
taking possession of the benefits of what you believe in the Word of God. We learn in Genesis 26 that Isaac sowed in the year of famine while everyone around him was listening to the voices of doubt and fear. Isaac acted out his faith, expected a miracle, and it changed the destiny of Isaac?s life.
You cannot act one thing and confess another. Paul says that with the mouth confession is made to salvation (Romans 10:10) When you confess Jesus Christ is Lord you don?t act like an unbeliever. If you did, your confession would be just plain empty words.
It is impossible to have faith and yet receive nothing from God? Oh, yes. The news is bombarding us every day, telling us to watch out!
Of course, we need to watch how we spend and manage our financial affairs. What really sets you apart from the world?s system is the Kingdom principles that blows the world?s minds?they are the opposite of everything the world tells you to do. They have also been tried and tested. They work.
That?s why faith sees the impossible; otherwise being a believer would be very dull. This is a time when God showcases his people, because faith always works against all odds. So this life of faith also changes the way we talk. When you talk different, most people will think you?re nuts. Jesus is the High Priest of confession (Heb 3:1). This means he will fulfill His priestly responsibly of seeing that we receive the fulfillment of every one of God?s promises that we steadfastly confess with our mouths and believe with our hearts. There can never be failure when we get in harmony with God?s word. And it is in this way that we prove Christ?s words to be spirit and life. (John 6.6) as He says they are. Mary said let it be done according to your word (Luke 1:38) that was the word of Faith in her heart and in her mouth (Romans 10:8) and turned the words of the angel into creative power and gave to the world a Saviour. All our words have been a blessing because of the word of faith in Mary?s heart.
In the face of the credit crunch, this is the calling for you: "calling those things which be done to me according to your word" (Romans 4:17).
Faith recognizes things that the Bible declares are ours now and claims them, regardless of credit crunch realities. Faith speaks acts it now believes it now and acts upon it as a statement of fact.
God says he will provide all our needs according to his riches and glory. Believe in your heart and act on his promises. People often just talk about their faith, but the fact is faith is expressed in actions not just words. When four men in Mark Chapter 2 carried that man who was sick with palsy and let him down through the roof, Jesus saw their faith. And He healed the man. Faith in your action makes all the difference act now and see the effect in this interesting time. The breakthrough is there it is yours, TAKE IT!!
